The decision of change in the reservation policy was celebrated with great joy in Jammu and Kashmir. A press conference was held at BJP headquarters, Jammu where senior party leader Vibodh Gupta addressed everyone regarding this positive change. He mentioned about the struggle of the Paharis for reservation for decades and how they became victim of the political game played by different parties including PDP and National Conference. “The Paharis were always with the nation even after the turmoil created by different parties,” he added.

The state government has announced reservation for the first time to the people living in the hilly areas thus bringing in a big change in the reservation policy. Due to this new policy, people living in the areas like Poonch, Rajouri, Uri, Karnah, Tangdhar will be hugely benefited. The people living in these hilly areas had been demanding reservation for years but were neglected. The government has brought in another major change in the reservation of backward areas i.e. RBA (Residents of Backward Areas). The EWS and ex- servicemen were also given the place first time.
