Lucknow, Aug 21 (PTI) Uttar Pradesh and Japan will deepen cooperation in semiconductors, advanced technology, skill development, employment and tourism, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said after meeting Japanese Ambassador to India Ono Keiichi here on Friday.
The Japanese side said a team of industry representatives will visit Uttar Pradesh to explore opportunities in the semiconductor sector. A Japanese industry team is also scheduled to visit Semicon India and HCL Technologies in September.
The two sides also discussed Japanese investment in Uttar Pradesh, with Adityanath highlighting opportunities ranging from MSMEs to large industries. Japanese companies, including Yamaha, Denso, NTT DATA, Toyo Ink, and Panasonic already have a presence in the state.
Skill development was another key focus, with discussions on setting up centres to train Uttar Pradesh youth according to the requirements of Japanese industries.
Opportunities in manufacturing, agriculture and nursing care were also discussed.
Japan has also sought Uttar Pradesh’s participation in Tourism Expo Japan 2026 in September, which the chief minister approved. The state plans to showcase its Buddhist, cultural and heritage tourism destinations.
The meeting comes as a delegation of more than 200 Japanese industry representatives is visiting Uttar Pradesh. Several MoUs have been signed, with proposed investments expected to generate around 10,000 jobs. PTI CDN TRB
